Discrimination in old age: multiple, cumulative and on the increase

6) What can/should be done about this issue to promote social justice and equity on a local/ personal level?

  1. I don't think that discriminating someone based on their age is right, Whether it be older or younger, they're still people just like us. The elderly are much more experienced and hold more knowledge then we do, that's for sure. I don't think it's right that we would discriminate someone even though they're thirty times smarter than we are. If they are not discriminating against us, then why should we discriminate against them? It's also impacting younger people because they're going to think that getting older isn't going to be enjoyable. While we're discriminating against them we're making them feel somewhat useless and like there is no point for them to be around anymore.

  2. I totally agree with this essay's author. The old people really are discriminated nowadays and they're starting to be discriminated even by the younger people. This is caused by the wrong created stereotype that says things like "old people are incapable to do this", "they can't do things by themselves because they are done in life" and others. They deserve to work, do their personal things and even dream with the things that life can bring till the day they think they are capable to. It can't be the goverment's decision to choose when they can or cannot do something. The eldery should be treated equally and respected for their interests, personality and customs.
